Solution Proposal / Process Example for Adjustment of Granule Size (μm to mm Range)

In powder processing, controlling the particle size is directly related to product performance, processability, and process stability.
In this article, we introduce examples of granule size adjustments, ranging from microns to millimeters, using the Eirich Mixer (a high-speed mixer and granulator), tailored to specific applications and objectives.

We also offer sample preparation services, so please feel free to contact us.

Granule Size: 150 μm – 300 μm

Raw Materials: Lactose, Cornstarch
Objectives: Improved flowability, improved compressibility, dust suppression
Applications: Pharmaceutical raw materials, dietary supplement ingredients, food additives

Granule Size: 1-2 mm

Raw Materials: Sodium chloride fine powder
Objectives: Dust suppression, improved flowability, enhanced dispersion during mixing
Applications: Water treatment materials, de-icing agents (anti-freezing materials), chemicals for industrial use, food processing materials

Granule Size: 3-6 mm

Raw Materials: Fly ash
Objectives: Dust suppression, improved handling properties
Applications: Building materials, cement substitutes, environmental treatment materials

Granule Size: 4-8 mm

Raw Materials: Lime
Objectives: Dust suppression, improved spreading efficiency, enhanced reactivity control
Applications: Agricultural soil conditioners, fertilizer additives, wastewater treatment neutralizers

Mechanism Pickup: Automatic Removal of Adhered Material Using Tool Set (Scraper)

The Tool set automatically removes raw materials adhered to the inner wall of the mixing vessel, preventing mixing inconsistencies and ungranulated material.
This enhances overall process efficiency by stabilizing quality, reducing cleaning requirements, and improving yield.

Recommended Products

Eirich Intensive Mixer is a high-speed mixer and granulator designed for a wide range of processing tasks involving raw materials, mixtures, and compounds.Optimal material processing is achieved by selecting the appropriate mixing tool shape and rotation speed according to the application.
By adjusting the operating conditions, a single machine can handle multiple processes such as mixing, granulation, kneading, and slurry preparation. The mixer features a jacketed mixing pan for both cooling and heating, and offers a wide range of customizable options to accommodate various processes.

Advantages of the Eirich mixing principles

  1. Eccentrically positioned rotor tool (mixing tool)
The rotor tool shape, rotation direction, and speed range can be selected to suit the application.
  2. Tool Set (scrapers)
It scrapes off raw materials adhering to the inner wall and bottom of the mixing pan, while simultaneously promoting efficient material transfer to the rotor tool.
  3. Mixing Pan (mixing vessel)
Through rotation, all raw materials in the mixing pan are continuously supplied to the rotor tool.

Unique Mechanisms

  • Short mixing time and high homogeneity
  • Capable of processing raw materials with varying specific gravities
  • The rotating mixing pan promotes material movement and reduces residue.
  • By selecting the rotor tool shape and adjusting the mixing pan speed, the system can handle complex material processing
  • Process integration enables compact and energy-efficient production systems
  • Setting optimal operating parameters ensures consistent and reproducible material processing
