Challenges of Material Adhesion

For businesses handling powders and granular materials, material adhesion and residue inside containers pose significant challenges. These issues affect product quality, yield, labor efficiency, and worker safety.

Challenges Arising from Adhesion

  • Quality variations caused by material adhesion
  • Lower product yield
  • Additional labor hours needed for cleaning and maintenance
  • Safety considerations for workers during cleaning operations

Product Requirements

  • Reduction of material adhesion
  • Improvement of product yield
  • Reduction in cleaning and maintenance labor
  • Minimizing worker contact with materials

Solution Proposals / Introduction to Anti-adhesion Technology

Five Eirich Technologies Designed to Reduce Material Adhesion. Through our unique engineering, we provide comprehensive adhesion control for the top, sides, and bottom of the Mixing pan (mixing container), ensuring consistent and reliable performance.

  1. Flat Structure of Mixing Pan (Mixing Container)
The flat, obstruction‑free design of the Mixing pan enhances cleanability and prevents material buildup.
  2. Adhesion Prevention with Tool Set (Scraper)
The Tool set installed along the inner surface of the Mixing pan scrapes off materials adhering to the inner walls and bottom, effectively reducing residue.
  3.  Bottom Tool on the Rotor Tool (Mixing Tool)
The Bottom tool mounted at the lowest point of the Rotor tool prevents material adhesion on the container bottom.
  4. Temperature Control with Cooling and Heating Capabilities
A Mixing pan equipped with cooling and heating capabilities allows precise temperature control during processing, preventing adhesion caused by temperature fluctuations.
Note: This feature is available on selected Intensive Mixer models and on the “CleanLine” series designed for hygienic applications.
  5. Reverse Jet Nozzles
By spraying compressed air, these nozzles reduce material adhesion and residue on the Crosshead (top plate).
    * This feature is available only on the "CleanLine" series for hygienic applications.

Cleaning is required for any remaining adhered material. However, both the Tool set and the Rotor tool are detachable and can be washed with water, ensuring excellent cleanability and ease of maintenance. Additionally, for small mixers with a working capacity of up to 5L, the mixing pan can also be removed and washed with water.

The Eirich mixer’s combination of versatile adhesion‑prevention features and a highly cleanable design helps ensure product quality and protect operator safety.

Flat Structure of the Mixing Pan

Challenge: Cleaning the Mixing pan
In typical mixers, mixing tools or circulation devices are often installed directly inside the mixing vessel. In contrast, Eirich’s unique design allows the mixing pan itself to rotate, keeping the pan completely flat.
This flat, unobstructed surface not only minimizes material adhesion but also provides outstanding cleanability.

Tool Set for Scraping

Challenge: Adhesion on the inner walls and bottom of the Mixing pan
The Tool set, extending from the top plate toward the Mixing pan, automatically removes adhered material from the inner walls and bottom of the pan.
It also prevents buildup in the upper area of the pan—where adhesion commonly occurs—eliminating the need for manual scraping.
By removing the need for scraping during the mixing process, lid opening and closing is no longer required, helping maintain a stable internal environment and reducing the risk of foreign material contamination.

Bottom Tool on the Rotor Tool

Challenge: Adhesion on the bottom of the Mixing pan
Eirich offers a wide range of the Rotor tools tailored to different applications, all equipped with the Bottom tools at the lowest point of the tool.
This ensures uniform mixing all the way to the bottom of the pan, preventing adhesion and supporting consistently high‑quality mixing.

Temperature Control with Cooling and Heating Capabilities

Challenge: Adhesion caused by temperature fluctuations
Temperature fluctuations during material processing can lead to condensation or static electricity, resulting in adhesion or agglomeration. Eirich’s cooling and heating capabilities enable precise temperature control of the Mixing pan, preventing adhesion caused by temperature changes.
This feature also helps maintain the quality of temperature‑sensitive materials.
Note: Available only on selected models.

Reverse Jet Nozzles on the Crosshead

Challenge: Adhesion on the Crosshead (top plate)
Reverse jet nozzles mounted on the Crosshead (top plate) inside the Mixing pan help reduce material adhesion and residue on the top plate.
Note: Available only on selected models.

Recommended Products

Eirich Intensive Mixer is a high-speed mixer and granulator designed for a wide range of processing tasks involving raw materials, mixtures, and compounds.Optimal material processing is achieved by selecting the appropriate mixing tool shape and rotation speed according to the application.
By adjusting the operating conditions, a single machine can handle multiple processes such as mixing, granulation, kneading, and slurry preparation. The mixer features a jacketed mixing pan for both cooling and heating, and offers a wide range of customizable options to accommodate various processes.

Advantages of the Eirich mixing principles

  1. Eccentrically positioned rotor tool (mixing tool)
The rotor tool shape, rotation direction, and speed range can be selected to suit the application.
  2. Tool Set (scrapers)
It scrapes off raw materials adhering to the inner wall and bottom of the mixing pan, while simultaneously promoting efficient material transfer to the rotor tool.
  3. Mixing Pan (mixing vessel)
Through rotation, all raw materials in the mixing pan are continuously supplied to the rotor tool.

Unique Mechanisms

  • Short mixing time and high homogeneity
  • Capable of processing raw materials with varying specific gravities
